Don't You Wish You could Go On Forever

In This Evening's Movie on August 20, 2008 at 2:50 pm

Last night, ah, last night. What is that quote about God’s reaction to our plans? <smile>

For last evening, I had…planned…to watch Oklahoma!. Yes, the original movie musical. My best laid plans were bested by live, real, talk with friends on the phone…under the stars…

By the time I hit the Play button, it was too late into the night to watch a musical. I am crazy about show tunes, and I knew I’d be singing to the cats in bed…(that would be my tabby, Jai, and my Manx, Fanny). Far too exciting for this girl to sleep.

So. I just watched the overture and opening tune…”Oh, What a Beautiful Morning.”

This reviewer had an Aha! moment with just the one tune.
Brokeback Mountain was not the first gay cowboy movie.

…

A cowboy, sweet smile on his face, gingerly riding atop his snow white horse, through a corn field, bright blue skies the backdrop? And singing to the day, “Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, I’ve got a beautiful feeling, everything’s goin’ my way!”

Pssst. So do I!

And what about that surry he has? This man tries to woo the girl not with a sports car, but a…

surry with fringe on top? “Watch that fringe and see how it flutters.”

“Would you say that fringe is made of silk?”

“Wouldn’t have no other kind but silk.”

This evening, the rest of the review:

That dream sequence…why didn’t Dali get credit?
